It’s the close of the first year, 2019, for Sur le Plat and time to review our favorite recipes. It’s also the beginning of a new year and a new decade with promises for fresh starts and more inventive seasonal cuisine.
Here’s an overview of my favorite recipes to help you create a traditional New Year’s day supper or brunch that will bring you luck, wealth, and prosperity. Black eyed peas, smothered cabbage and Maggie’s sweet cornbread are a must.
Check out my Smothered Cabbage recipe here.
Black Eyed Peas are essential for good luck in the New Year!
Maggie’s sweet cornbread is the perfect accompaniment to either of these dishes!
Other options and favorites for a new years day brunch would include shakshuka or a vegetable frittata. Round out your menu with our signature brunch cocktails, Cajun Bloody Mary’s or Bourbon Milk Punch.
Happy New Year and thank you for following Sur le Plat!
