It’s strawberry season in Louisiana. There is nothing sweeter than our locally grown juicy red strawberries. Our farmers markets are overflowing this year with an abundant crop of these ruby red sweethearts. Every one of my recipes has a story and can be attributed to friends and family or my travels and explorations across the United States and around the world.
Strawberries remind me fondly of spring dinners with happy endings of exquisite pies crafted by my dear friend Marilu. Marilu is not only an accomplished ophthalmologist but also an accomplished chef. One of my sweetest memories is of Marilu’s unforgettable strawberry pie. She has generously shared her recipe with me and now you too. It’s a strawberry festival!
